    Yes, each server has its own set of rules, much like a BBS. So it's a good idea to try to find one that seems like a good fit for you.

    I have two accounts -- I post my retrocomputing stuff from kirkman@digipres.club, which is a digital preservation server; and more general or work stuff from kirkman@mastodon.social.

    Not just a matter of finding rules you prefer - but finding a local
    community with common interests is another benefit of federated social
    networks. I'm on Tilde.club, a node that caters to people from a
    handful of tildes. I've been able to find people to follow locally that
    I don't think I'd find otherwise.
